The following are some of the most frequently asked questions about the Gymnasium Geography assembly programs. If you have a question that has not been adequately addressed please send e-mail to Pres@gymgeography.com or call us :

Facility needs and use questions:

Q: What if our gymnasium is also our lunchroom ( Multi -Purpose Room - MPR ) ?
Ans: Because of our small group and interactive format, we do require the use of a gym or MPR. The majority of the schools we perform at have the MPR . We have no problem working around your lunch schedule. In fact, we can remove all of our show equipment in less than 5 minutes allowing your custodial staff time to set up for lunch. If we are scheduled for afternoon shows we can also set up again after lunch in less than 5 minutes.

We strive for... "Maximum student inclusion with minimum school day intrusion."

Q: Our gym / MPR has a wall divider . Do you need the whole area open?
Ans: NO. We only need half the gym area. You may close the divider and use other half for your school needs.

Q: What is the minimum open floor space required?
Ans: At a minimum we require 20 feet wide by 30 feet long open floor area.

Q: Can Gymnasium Geography be set up and performed on a stage?
Ans: NO. For safety reasons this program cannot be presented on a stage.
The games and activities are PE related and require adequate room for running and stopping.

Q: Can Gymnasium Geography be performed outdoors?
Ans: NO. Our exclusive vinyl floor maps are not designed for outdoor use. Also impossible with our busy schedule to factor in rain dates.

Q: Besides a clean open GYM / MPR what else do you need on assembly day?
Ans: A few chairs for the teachers and for any guests / parents that may attend. It is NOT necessary to set up chairs for the students as they will be actively involved. We provide all of our own props and our own wireless PA system. We are completely self sufficient in loading and unloading our equipment as well as setting it up and breaking it down. Our presenters will also introduce themselves to your students each show. It is not necessary for the principal or any member of your organization to do this.

Content questions:

Q: Is this program really appropriate for kindergarten and first grade?
Ans:YES! Not only learning level & skill level appropriate but also instrumental in planting the seed on the importance of geography & spatial awareness at the earliest possible school age .

Q: What about activities for our diverse special education population?
Ans: When we say "
inclusion" we really mean it! Gym Geography was originally developed & implemented at a school with a 100% special education population. We will confidently and successfully work with your special needs students.

Scheduling questions:

Q: Can we request more than one map choice per day?
Ans: We ask that you choose one map show per day. Our very busy calendar usually means that all of our available maps are at different schools each day. Two maps per day at one school, severely restricts our booking calendar. It is NOT out of the question to have 2 different maps in one day it does however, require specific guidelines , pre- approval and sometimes even extra costs.

Q: Which map program should we choose- USA - or NJ Map choices (Sorry WORLD map NOT available for 2008-2009)
Ans: That decision is made at your end and does NOT need to be determined at time of booking. We can successfully present our program to all grade levels K- 8 and special education on either one of our maps.
The most popular choice is the USA map.
NOTE:
We do offer a New Jersey State map program for NJ schools and the 4th grade curriculum.

Q: May we combine grades?
Ans: It is fine to combine grades but we ask that you keep them within one grade level. EX: K& 1, 2&3, 7&8 etc. because our skill & learning levels are age appropriate a two grade gap is NOT recommended.

Q: Our large school requires additional program days. Must they be consecutive ?
Ans: For lodging purposes if you are NOT a NJ state school we ask that you book consecutive days. Some instances and exceptions can be made if this is not possible at your end. We make every attempt to cater to our customers.

Q: Who sets up the program schedule?
Ans: Because each school has varying scheduling needs show scheduling is done by someone at your end. We do provide you with our "user friendly " schedule form which has detailed scheduling info included. We also remain available at our toll free # should any scheduling questions arise that have not been addressed in our form.

Day of the show: We are confident in our ability to set up smooth running assembly days.
We know you and your staff are busy... so we make it easy!

-
Students DO NOT need chairs set up. They will be actively involved in program.
A few chairs for teachers and visitors are all that is needed.

- We provide ALL necessary equipment including our own Microphone & PA system.

- Completely self sufficient unloading & loading equipment, setting up & breaking it down.

- Presenters will introduce themselves each show. It is not necessary for anyone to do this.
